Hantaran

as i have mentioned in this entry, I was absolutely happy with my hantaran. It was so cantik, with the combination of my fav. flowers eustoma and roses.

MG was responsible for the hantaran in the first picture. oh again, i love the flower combination so much.

hantaran from the groom, was made personally by his cousins. I love the dulang for this very much.

Me and hubby decided to make our pertukaran hantaran simple, from me was ring, sejadah, chocolate, cake and a baju melayu

and he gave ring+mas kahwin, telekung+sejadah, cake, fruits, and baju kurung.

yes we indeed exchanged 5 and 5....

I think this was one of the biggest comments i received, this was the cause of many fallout and misunderstanding that i had with families and friends.

But alhamadulillah, in the end, it had all worked out for the best  for us...

I was told that the exchanging, started so kita tak datang rumah tetamu tangan kosong, which is mashaAllah what Rasulullah SAW has reminded us to do, to give gifts and buah tangan to each other within kemampuan..hehehe..

so , in conclusion, no girls, i was not trying to start a new trend or went against our adat, all i did, was i went old school, and back to exchanging gifts as tuan rumah and tetamu. Personal items due to safety reasons, we just exchange personally, also didn't want to worry about expensive things being displayed on the hantaran. Takut sgt hilang.

oh i miss those days, where hantaran was just dulang after dulang of food that we can eat after the wedding...heehe...as a child, it was my fav part.

p/s: do visit http://merisikgallery1.blogspot.com/ for more beautiful hantarans and the absolutely beautiful garden theme pelamin, they did in feb 2010, for amy's wedding.

hi dear....agreed with u...actually hantaran not need to be sooo bdulang2,mahal2...it juz penyeri sebuah mjlis pkahwinan....juz adat yg x manis untuk ditolak ke tepi...so, cukup la sekadar yg boleh buat kita senyum..kan..hehe

dear, totally setuju. its the best ikut adat and within kemampuan kite. i've list down handphone in my hantaran, uncle strike down and replace with foods/fruits. HEHE kene la ikut. sy pon penah dengar gak orang bagi 5-5 or 7-7 tak perlu 5-7 or 7-9, asalkan ganjil rite?

fathiyah: tula sebenarnya sab taknak hantaran pun.n then my mum cakap why not bagi makanan byk..i pun ok, idea yg best, sbb ramai org suka share2 makanan..hehhe..

sophisticated bridezilla: heehe...kan, any amount nak balas pun boleh...asalkan niat tu betul...

sha:kalau u bagi byk and mampu apa salahnya..i fikir kalau hantaran bagi byk, nanti takda duit utk honeymoon..heheh..tak best..rasa time wedding yg i paling excited plan is the honeymoon...

Sab, you have many enlightening postings in your blog. I am just hoping many others would feel the same about the hantaran, about the adat and how we are so obsessed with adat until to a point it over rule our Islamic teachings. I thank you again for your sharing. I do hope you can share more, and continue on as this knowledge is what I need.
